Q. Who supervises the Camp?
A: Rotarians of District 5130, RYLA District Chairman, Camp Director, assistant Camp Director, 10 RYLA Camp Counselors and a Camp Staff of approximately 15 people. There is a camp counselor for every cabin plus additional supporting staff. We have well over thirty attending staff every day.
Q: What facilities are available at Westminster Woods?
A: There is a large cafeteria, outside basketball and volleyball courts, swimming pool, baseball diamond, and a stream that meanders though this idyllic redwood setting. Accommodations include men’s and women’s heated cabin areas.
Q: How do I get to and from Camp?
A: A bus will transport you from a predetermined location to and from camp. Private transportation is not allowed and only under rare circumstances, approved by your RYLA District Chairperson, will private transportation be allowed.
Q: What if I have a conflicting date or time with RYLA?
A: It is mandatory that students attend the full camp. Early leavers, late arrivals are discouraged and we must pass up your selection if there is a time conflict.
Q: What may I bring to Camp?
A: A recommended list of items is sent to each person. Keep it light and simple. You cannot bring smoking substances, alcohol, or non-prescription drugs. Anyone bringing such items will be asked to leave the camp.
Q: What will I be doing at RYLA?
A: You will be asked to assume leadership roles in a variety of activities. Each day several outstanding motivational speakers will make presentations and hold workshops. Many “group-working” activities will be held. There is also plenty of time for sports, recreation, camaraderie and sharing.
Q: How do I maintain contact with the Rotary Club that sent me?
A: Your Rotary Club has a RYLA representative who will be in contact with you. At some point after you return form camp, you will be ask to share your RYLA experiences with the Club that sponsored you.
